Privacy Policy
The short version
Our games don't collect anything. They have no accounts, no analytics, and no servers of ours to send anything to — your saves stay on your own device. This website has no cookies, no analytics, and no advertising. The only personal information we ever hold is what you type into our support forms. We don't sell your data — to anyone, ever.
Who we are
Living Skies Interactive ("we", "us") is an independent game studio operating as a sole proprietorship in Canada. We are the data controller for the small amount of information described below.
For anything about your privacy or your data, including the requests described under Your rights, write to privacy@livingskiesinteractive.com. General questions and bug reports are best sent through the support form.
We are not required to appoint a Data Protection Officer, and we have not appointed one. Privacy requests go to the address above and are handled by the studio owner.
What we collect on this website
The site itself sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. Two things do involve your data:
- Support and bug report forms. When you submit a form we receive whatever you typed into it — your email address, your message, and for bug reports the game, platform, and version you told us about. We use this only to answer you and to fix the problem you reported. Giving us this information is entirely voluntary and there is no statutory or contractual obligation to do so; the only consequence of withholding it is that we have no way to reply to you.
- Server logs. Our host, Cloudflare, records standard request information such as IP address, browser user agent, and the pages requested. This is generated automatically for security and reliability, and we do not use it to build any profile of you.
Everything the site needs — fonts included — is served from our own domain. Loading a page makes no request to any third party, so no other company learns that you visited.
What our games collect
Nothing. Our games are built with Godot and sold through Steam and itch.io. They do not send us any data at all: there are no player accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no advertising, and we operate no servers for them to talk to. Your saved games and settings live on your own device.
What the storefronts do
Buying and playing through a storefront is a separate matter, and those platforms are their own data controllers. When you purchase or play one of our games, Steam or itch.io processes your information under their own policies — that covers the purchase itself and any platform feature a game makes use of, such as cloud saves, achievements, or recorded playtime.
What we see from them is the aggregated sales, wishlist, and refund reporting every developer gets. It does not identify you, and we cannot use it to look you up.
Why we're allowed to process it
If you're in the UK or the European Economic Area, the GDPR requires us to name a legal basis. Since the only information we hold is what you send us, there are just two:
- Consent — when you write to us through a form. You gave us your email address precisely so we could reply, and you can ask us to delete the exchange at any time.
- Legitimate interests — the server logs our host keeps, keeping the site online and defended against abuse.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf, under contract and only on our instructions:
- Cloudflare — website hosting, DNS, and email routing
- Resend — delivers the support and bug report forms to our inbox
- Steam and itch.io — the storefronts we publish through. They handle purchases and any platform features, as their own controllers, under the policies linked above.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
What we don't do
We want to be explicit about a few things, because privacy law requires us to disclose them if we did any of them:
- No automated decision-making or profiling. Nothing we run makes automated decisions about you, and we build no profiles and infer no characteristics.
- No sensitive personal information. We never ask for and have no use for health, biometric, precise location, financial account, racial or ethnic origin, religious belief, sexual orientation, or government identifier data.
- No sale or sharing. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as the California CCPA/CPRA defines those terms. We never have, and we have no plans to.
- No tracking, and no third-party requests. No cookies, no advertising or analytics SDKs, no fingerprinting, and no embedded fonts, scripts, or widgets loaded from anyone else's servers — on the website or in our games.
Where your data goes
We're based in Canada and our providers operate globally, so your information may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Where data leaves the UK or EEA we rely on the standard contractual clauses offered by the providers above.
How long we keep it
- Support correspondence — up to 24 months, so we have context if you write back about the same problem. Ask us and we'll delete it sooner.
- Server logs — retained by Cloudflare on their standard schedule, typically a matter of days
- Everything else — there isn't anything else. We hold no game data about you.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it if it's wrong, or delete it. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to:
- receive a copy in a portable format, or have it sent to another provider
- object to or restrict how we use it
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what we did before you withdrew it
- complain to your data protection authority — in Canada the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, in the UK the ICO, or your national authority in the EEA
California residents have the rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing under the CCPA/CPRA. We don't sell or share personal information as those laws define it, and we will never charge you a different price for exercising any of these rights.
To make a request, email privacy@livingskiesinteractive.com or use the support form. We'll reply within 30 days. Since the only thing we're likely to hold is an email exchange, verifying you usually just means writing from the address that sent it. You may also authorise someone to make a request on your behalf.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled a request, you're entitled to complain to your data protection authority — in Canada the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, in the UK the ICO, or your national authority in the EEA. We'd rather you told us first so we can put it right.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS throughout, and the credentials behind our contact forms are held in managed secret storage rather than in our code. The best protection here is simply that we hold so little: there is no player database to breach. If an incident ever did affect your personal information, we would notify you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.
Children
Our games are intended for a general audience and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us their information, write to us through the support form and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data we'll update this page and move the "last updated" date. If the change is significant we'll say so in our games or on our website rather than expecting you to notice.
